Description:

The new Duo3 ULTRA modchip features fully automatic operation and playback of all original and backup discs including NTSC and PAL imported games. Compatible with all versions of PS2, makes the choice so easy to make.

You'll have to find out what version PS2 you have and what installation diagram to use if you are installing yourself, we do not send diagrams out with the modchip as there are far too many different types out there now (around 15 different motherboards).

The Duo 3 Ultra Chip has 3 boot modes.

Fully Auto detect PS2, PSX and movie mode

Disable Mode

- Hold the START button on joypad 1 until "DISABLED" appears on the TV.
- press RESET button and the chip will remain in disable mode until the PS2 is power down again.

Boot from memory card

- From reset, hold R1 button on joypad 1 to boot installed application on memory card. (mc:BOOT/BOOT.ELF)

Additional information

V9 and v10 LA chip syndrome.
It is a well documented fact that the latest v9 and v10 machines suffer from a major problem. The LA chip has a tendency to die. After it dies, the only solution to get your machine working again is to replace the chip with an original LA6508 or a device called LA6508 RII. However, in both cases, it is quite a hard soldering job. (much harder than to install a chip). The following can be done to reduce the chances of the LA 6508 chip dying. Again do not attempt the simple modification unless you know what you are doing.

Firstly - the prevention - by far easier than the cure:
1) Carefully lift Pin17 of the LA6508 Chip,
2) Ensure no solder links it to the pad it was just lifted from,
3) Link Pin17 to 5 volts as demonstrated in the picture below.
